This reading reminds me of the saying that “the more we know, the more we know we don’t know” - the journey to knowledge is long and we are made more aware of the lengths we must go to achieve knowledge. Then we realize knowledge isn’t everything.

Thank you for sharing CS Lewis with us.

A thoughtful way to begin Lent-- thank you so much. It's making me rethink all the sacrifices as steps bringing me closer to God. (As opposed to a drudgery.) I HOPE that's what CSL intended! Thank you!

1 John 5:20

King James Bible 👑

20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

Zechariah 11:17

King James Bible 👑

17 Woe to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.

So we are "like God" in our abilities, but the task is to be more like God in our actions. We will not reach God by virtue of what we are but reach him by our virtuous acts.
