Looking forward to traveling to Ireland this July with C.S. Lewis Foundation. A numbers of great speakers enlisted for a week to discuss “Returning Home: C.S. Lewis, Roots, and Transformation” in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Check out www.CSLewis.org for more information.

The Four Loves is one of Lewis' books I have not read. I'll have to put it on the TBR list!

I’ve read A Grief Observed –such a profound book! I think I need to read The Four Loves then read A Grief Observed again.

That sounds like a great back to back read--there is so much crossover between the two!

Love this. Super helpful. I’m working on a Valentine’s Day homily focused on defining Christian love and this has gotten the ball rolling

If more people were familiar with the classic aspects of various types of love treated in this book, some of us wouldn't have to endure people saying that Thorin and Bilbo, as well as Frodo and Sam, are "little gay boyfriends."

The recent ballet with original score on this very book was brilliant. Just when I thought the power of The Four Loves couldn’t be any greater. See it if ever you can!!

I am currently reading “TFL“ for the first time. So far, here is my favourite quote, from the Introduction:

Hence, as a better writer has said, our imitation of God in this life…must be an imitation of God incarnate: our model is the Jesus, not only of Calvary, but of the workshop, the roads, the crowds, the clamorous demands and surly oppositions, the lack of peace and privacy, the interruptions. For this, so strangely unlike anything we can attribute to the Divine life in itself, is apparently not only like, but is, the Divine life operating under human conditions.

The bit about “clamorous demands and surly opposition, the lack of peace and privacy, the interruptions” especially resonated with my SAHM life! LOL But, in all seriousness, I was deeply convicted and encouraged! Dear Jack—you are a true friend!
